Speed Bumps added to a major Arterial Route in Papamoa. What is TCC thinking?

The TCC traffic department is continuing their unbelievable decisions to close or choke major roads outside schools.  It has added permanent speed bumps onto the only arterial route into Papamoa East to almost stop the traffic at this point.  (Links Ave is the other road closed because there is a school nearby.)

Te Okuroa Drive is the major thoroughfare into Papamoa East and the traffic on this road will only grow with the new Sands commercial development in Papamoa.  Choking and reducing traffic speed on this road has no logical reason.

The adjacent school does not open onto Te Okuroa Drive.  From the “Traffic Management Blog”

“Speed humps and bumps are also not recommended for arterial or emergency roads, where they can be a hazard. If unexpected or taken at too high a speed, these obstacles can cause a driver to lose control or damage a vehicle.

Speed humps are useful in places where traffic needs to flow, and speed bumps in small areas where pedestrians and traffic share space more equally.

Traffic bumps aren’t the best choice on emergency response routes”
